Ringing in the New Year

Third year in a row ...

we are ringing in the New Year
with the Meyers

It's always a party and a great get away
for all of us

Sam/Keaton/Rylee played the Kinect
and the adults had a few cocktails and reconnected
...

I have so many resolutions  plans for this New Year
of course the usual list:

lose weight. exercise. be frugal.
creative. adventurous. thoughtful.
read lots of books. write thank you notes.

But more than just a list I really really want to work
deeper ... on myself

I am going to love every single minute I get to spend with my husband and son
whether it’s fixing breakfast, lunch or dinner, helping with homework,
driving to activities or snuggling at bedtime.
I am truly grateful for this family that I have been given
Life is moving too fast and I want to soak in each precious moment

I am going to focus on becoming healthy.
exercise. eat better. vitamins. play.
Live every moment to the fullest and just be happy to be alive
I need to take care of myself and feel better about me.

I am going to be a better friend
I truly love my friends will all of my heart, and sometimes,
I don't think they know that.

My one little word for the year is connect
I will connect better with
myself, my husband, my son, my friends, my life.

Welcome Two Thousand Twelve
 I'm ready
show me what ya got!

today i am ...

... thinking about what a great summer we have had

we've discovered new friends
and new places to play

we have not gotten up before 9:00 am
more than once or twice

we've gone to outdoor summer concerts,
penguin park and a Royals game

we've eaten ice cream from the ice cream man,
had water balloon fights, played in the hose,
had countless nerf wars and planted a garden

we've been to the Sprint Center,
Lake of the Ozarks and Yogurtini

we have seen a baby lizard hatch,
tried to save a baby bird and caught three crawdads
and made little habitats for all of them

we've spent days and nights at
worlds of fun, ate snow cones and
played hide n seek in the dark

we spent precious time with cousins and family from Omaha,
Colorado and Florida.  I love these people so much.

I got to snap lots of silly pictures
of summer fun

{I know ... bad mom, couldn't resist the parkour moment}

summer is coming to a close
and although school has started,

it is not over yet!

the weather has cooled a bit
and I am hanging on to outdoor weather
and still have summer activities planned

we {finally} have our first camping trip of the summer
to look forward to and we still plan on visiting the lake
we still have to play in the creek and go pick fresh fruit

we still have time for many more bike rides and
late night walks and Sam still needs to paintball
for his birthday

I have enjoyed each sweet summer time moment

and I still am

Keaton in Kansas City

for an entire week!

We brought him home with us
last weekend when we were visiting his family
at the lake

It can be like a little vacation week
for him

I have lots of activities planned

First up, was of course Fourth of July
{I already wrote about that in my last post}

Keaton really wanted to eat lunch at Fritz's
in Crown Center
so I thought we'd make a day of it ...

We found a Rain Forest exhibit
they learned a few interesting facts

We went to The Crayola Store
there is always something good to do there

They changed into swim trunks and
played in the fountains
for almost an hour!

Later that night ...
a water balloon fight!

There has also been video games, toy stores, bicycle rides,
hide n seek in the dark, tree climbing, a trip to the candy store,
open gym, playing with the neighbor kids, a movie,
whew ... I'm tired!

finally a little down time

We have kept ourselves pretty busy and
it has been a really good week!
{a few disagreement here and there
but for the most part, a lot of fun!}
